with Cricut® Explore and above in Design Space.(The older versions of Cricut® machines - like the Expressions -will not work with the digital

My life in June was crazy, and I missed out on 2 specials at Close to My Heart. The Album special and the Cardstock special. I think that was the universe's way of telling me to use what I have before filling my shelves with more... pffft on the universe, what does it know about crafters? lol I did manage to get emails out to all my regulars, so that was something at least...

The new additions to
the Thin Cuts dies include words, hearts, and stars, along with some seasonal
ones like monsters, snowmen, and snowflakes that are only available for a
limited time in the Seasonal Expressions.
I made a cute card using the Hearts die set to share with you today. I
chose this set for its versatility. There are 3 multi-sized, non-symetrical
dies in the set, and it cuts out the solid heart in the middle, as well as a
thin open heart ring. You can also nest the smallest heart inside the largest
heart when you are cutting and get a heart with a hole in it. With a multi-cut,
the same can be done using the medium heart or the medium-small hearts. (the
dies don’t nest well on one pass through the die cut machine).
I used some Uptown Fundamentals and All About the Gold Fundamentals for this card (highlighted in this post). I love the polka dots, and really wanted to do something with the overlays. I lifted the clear gold polka dotted overlay away from the card using pieces of the Thin 3D Foam tape, hiding it behind the gold dots. Clever, huh? I placed the small heart die pieces behind the overlay, and two thin medium heart outlines on the top. This picture just does not do it justice to how great the layering looks. If I can get a better picture, I will replace it.
On the inside of the card, I am going to use the medium heart, and a sentiment from the "Finding the Words" Stamp set. I just haven't decided whether to use this card as an Anniversary card, or an I love you card.

This month there are 5 of us highlighting the “Jeepers Creepers” paper collection. I chose to do a scrapbook layout. Halloween is one of the favorite holidays at our house, and with a grandkid now who is old enough to enjoy dressing up, things are really getting fun again!
The base page of this project is the dark gray print, to give it a spooky night feel overall. I used the Cricut Artbooking cartridge to cut out a Haunted House and a fence (3x, welded together), and backed the windows with orange from the striped paper. Then I cut out some of the monsters from the monster print paper to inhabit the house.
Behind the fence, I layered a strip of the spooky eyes paper, I was trying for the feeling of eyes blinking through the fence in the dark. Did I get it? I added a couple of the eyeballs from the assortment on the fence as well, for some dimension.
For the photo wells, I used the Pansy circle paper, cut to 4 x 4 inches, which just about takes up 4 circles each. The photos themselves will be 3.5 x 3.5 when I add them (shown here with placeholders).
I added the moon, sparkly bat, SCARY and Monsters from the complements. I think the Scary plus Monsters make a fun title.

For a lot of us, July = middle of Summer Time. The kids are out of school (well, mine are all grown, but the kids where I work are gone), the weather may have finally settled into a summery pattern of warmth for most days, and cooking outside is more usual than not. Iced tea and lemonade are drinks of choice around my house.
In addition to the stamps going buh-bye, all the paper sets, except for the solid colors, are also going to be changing. So if you like the Fundamentals sets, I recommend picking some up before the end of July.
Along with most of the decor, albums, a couple of shimmer trim colors, and 3 of the Cricut cartridge sets. But I can promise, the things that are coming in August - will wow you! I can't reveal yet, but oh my, so much lovely!

I knew as soon as I saw the stamp set that I would make the cards with one of the new bright sets of paper. I haven't received my Penelope paper pack yet, so I used some of my Kaleidoscope pack, along with Pear and White Daisy Exclusive cardstock. These colors are brighter in person! And a bit of Gold Shimmer Trim for some shine. I used Gypsy ink for the saying and frame, Pixie for the balloon Doggie, and a combination of Pixie and second generation* Sorbet on the Monkey to get a deeper, but not too deep look. I decided to keep this card simpler; no extra embellishments. I want those cute animals to steal the show!
Look at the other animals in the set, so cute! Also, note that the frame can be cut using your Cricut (That's what the red line around any stamp image in the catalog means). That's handy if you are making a set of cards - no fussy cutting!
*Second generation stamping - for those of you who may not know, is when you ink up your stamp, then stamp it once on scrap paper, then stamp it again on your project, giving a lighter image.

I have a really quick share today - Close to My Heart is doing a HUGE broadcast on CreativeLive. It was live on Nov 20-21, but they are re-broadcasting it, and it's free to watch, just sign up.
If you haven't heard about CreativeLIve (I hadn't before this), it's an online learning platform that broadcasts live classes (and also rebroadcasts them). Everything from how to set up a blog, to how to sew a dress, step by step, to many other things. I won't go into it all now, because this post is about Close to My Heart, not CreativeLive, lol.

Before you know it, the new year will be here! The November Stamp of the Month, Cheers - 2016! is all about celebrating the incoming New Year. It's great for scrapbook pages, as well as for making cards for those who don't (or didn't get around to) sending out December Holiday cards. My sister has been sending New Year cards for years now. I keep saying I am going to adopt the idea, but I just love Christmas stamps... anyway... Cheers!

I'm a little late spreading the news (it was on the CTMH Blog on November 2, 2015), but I will surely not be when it's available! It was previewed at the AustralAsia convention to rave reviews, and has been the buzz of the CTMH Facebook groups ever since. There will be a package deal to start with, so definitely mark it in your current planner to be ready to jump on this opportunity!

I recently got the "Believe in Christmas" My Acrylix Stamp Set, available in the Holiday Expressions catalog. I love all the sayings. After much staring at the paper pack, and Pinterest, I finally came up with this - which was inspired by... nothing I saw, lol.
I laid all 3 sentiments on one block and stamped them at an angle in Chocolate ink on one edge of Colonial White cardstock, then again down the other side, offsetting them so they were next to a different saying. I used a small pine branch from another set in Fern ink to add a little color to that piece of cardstock, then I layered it onto a piece of Cranberry cardstock.
I stamped the banner in gold pigment ink on a cut out banner and heat embossed it with antique gold embossing powder (it looks chocolate in this photo).
I used the "Seasons" stamp set that comes with the Art Philosophy Cricut Collection to stamp the tree. I topped off one tree with a small wooden partridge (or maybe it's a dove?), and the other with a star, just for variation. And I gave one of the trees and the banner some dimension with foam tape. The banner and trees were cut out of Colonial White cardstock using my Cricut Expression and Art Philosophy and Artistry cartridges.
Finally, I doodled around the edge in black (I wish I had used brown), and added some gold sequins for ornaments on the tree.
There are other really pretty papers in this pack, and I plan to create some scrapbook pages soon. The complements that are available are so cute! White Pines set.
